The next step is understanding the various components that make up a vinyl fence. Industry standard for the post size is going to be 5x5 inches. We would not recommend going with a 4x4 inch vinyl post that can found at places like Homedepot, Menards, or Lowes because they do not provide the necessary strength in high wind situations. The next component to review is the rails which are the two vertical cross members of the fence and to know what size they are. Many companies in MN are going to be using a 1.5x5.5 inch rail which we find to be inadequate and less strong given how harsh our winters tend to be. Ridgeline uses a 2x7 inch rail which provides the necessary strength when snow is piling up against your fence. Finally, it is important to know how thick the pickets are. Pickets can range from 1/2 inch thick to 7/8 inch, with industry standard normally at 5/8 inch thick. 10/10 recommend Ridgeline fence & deck. We priced out a few other companies and are glad went with Ridgeline. Though maybe a smaller fence company compared to the local giants, the service is large. Max, the owner was one of the most responsive and communicative people I’ve worked with. Everything was seamless. They came out and installed our fence in ONE DAY. Max was onsite for a portion of the day as well but not as an observant owner- he worked hard helping his team install our fence as well. From bid to full installation was about a month.
